Seed management directly impacts the success (or failure) of ecological restoration projects. The most successful restoration projects have one common factor, a strategically planned and closely managed seed supply chain.

Our team of experienced seed ecologists and restoration practitioners, led by Dr Todd Erickson, are equipped to deliver leading-edge applied seed science for field-based programs and desktop assessments.

We offer a range of treatments and seeding technologies to maximise the success of your restorative efforts. Our services cover the entire seeding process, from restoration planning aligned to international standards, on-ground soil-vegetation mapping through to location-specific seed selection, seed sourcing, specialised seed treatments, precision seeding and early plant life-stage monitoring.

Our evidence-based methods have delivered survival rates well beyond industry norms, thanks to a strategic and targeted approach to collection, treatment, storage and seed delivery.

All of this means lower costs for our clients and better outcomes for the land we are working together to restore.

We are flexible, we can provide project management and advice for the entirety or at any part of your restoration project.

Our Approach

Our service is flexible, we can manage your restoration project from start to finish or provide specialist support at any point of your project. This is our approach.

Step 1 – Goal alignment

We are committed to delivering the best outcomes for our clients. This starts with having clear and transparent project goals that align with your objectives.

Step 2 – Strategy development

We enjoy working collaboratively with our clients to develop seeding plans that are bespoke to the conditions of your restoration location and budget. Providing expert guidance, recommendations, and approaches (desktop or field assessments) to deliver the best results.

Step 3 – Preparing the restoration area

We deep-dive into the target restoration area landform and soil condition. Undertaking soil-vegetation mapping and physico-chemical analyses to fully understand the land’s current condition and recommend any site preparation needs, such as weed management and soil seedbed preparation steps (e.g. contour ripping, scalping).

Step 4 – Seed selection

We produce a targeted species list, for direct seeding or tubestock planting, which is best suited to the conditions of the site.

We can advise on, or facilitate, the purchase of seed and tube stock. We have a growing partnership base that we work with to source, correctly store, and manage seed or nursery stock until required.

Step 5 – Seed preparation

Before planting we ensure the seeds, we source or client-provided, are in their best possible condition to guarantee their greatest chance of survival.

Using evidence-based techniques we assess seed quality, treat seeds for dormancy, and apply seed enhancement technologies including seed coating, extruded pelleting and flash-flaming (via patented, exclusive access) techniques to increase germination and recruitment potential by 4 to 8 times.

Step 6 – Seeding

We head out on-site to complete the direct seeding program with our in-house or custom built (via patented, exclusive access) precision seeding technologies to maximise seed to plant conversion rates.

Step 7 – Monitoring

We offer monitoring of early-stage plant recruitment to ensure our seeding efforts are tracking towards the target conditions, and if required advise on infill.
